五稜郭

Goryuukaku (Five-Pointed Star Fortress) is a 2006 historical action movie telling the epic story of the last samurai warriors in their fight against the Japanese Imperial Army during the Boshin War. Set in and around the star-shaped fortress of Goryukaku, Hokkaido, the movie follows the courageous band of samurai led by Enomoto Takeaki (Ken Watanabe), the commander of the Republic of Ezo, a short-lived republic established by the Tokugawa shogunate during the last years of the samurai era. As the Imperial Army closes in on the fortress, Enomoto and his samurai warriors must use their skill and determination to defend their homeland and their way of life.
