Based on a true story, Heartbreak Ridge follows Tom Highway (Clint Eastwood), a grizzled Marine Corps gunnery sergeant who clashes with the new, clean-cut commanding officer, Major Malcolm Powers (Mario Van Peebles), and tries to prepare his men for the battle. Torn between his duty to his country and his desire to protect his men, Highway must face a court martial that could end his military career.
