Allá en el trapiche

Allá en el trapiche (lit. "Out at the Sugar Mill") is a 1993 Colombian telenovela created by Bernardo Romero Pereiro and broadcast by RCN Televisión. The telenovela is based on the 1888 novel of the same name by Eustaquio Palacios. It stars Guy Ecker and Consuelo Luzardo, who play Leonardo and Dora, a couple that falls in love despite coming from different backgrounds. After Dora's father forbids her to be with Leonardo, she sails to the United States to be with him. The series was renewed for a second season, the following year. The story of this classic love triangle was adapted for film in a movie written and directed by Felipe Martínez Amador that premiered in June 2011.
