Pantaleón y las visitadoras

Pantaleón y las visitadoras is a Peruvian comedy-drama film directed by Mario Vargas Llosa and José María Gutiérrez Santos. It was released in 1975 and was based on the novel of the same name by Mario Vargas Llosa. The film follows Captain Pantaleón Pantoja, who is tasked with establishing a brothel in the Amazonian jungle to serve the Peruvian soldiers stationed there. Starring José Sacristán, Katy Jurado, Rosa Carmina and Camucha Negrete, Pantaleón y las visitadoras is a satirical look at the role of the military in Peruvian society as well as the social and cultural changes taking place in the country at the time.
