A Foreign Field

A touching and funny road movie about friendship, loss, and the power of memory. Cyril and Amos are two British veterans of the Normandy landings who return to France to visit the grave of their wartime buddy. They encounter Waldo, an American on a similar mission, and the meeting sparks memories of an old girlfriend from the past. With the mysterious American lady Lisa in their wake, Cyril and Waldo decide to try and track her down. Along the way, they reminisce about their time in France during the war, sharing stories and laughter, and learning more about themselves and each other. The performances are excellent, with Bob Hoskins and Michael Caine particularly shining as Cyril and Amos. The film is beautifully shot, with stunning cinematography that captures the beauty of the French countryside. A Foreign Field is a must-see for fans of British cinema and anyone who enjoys a good story about friendship and redemption.
