<p>Bonitinha, But Ordinary (Portuguese: Bonitinha, Mas Ordinária) is a 1981 Brazilian comedy film directed by Ruy Guerra. It is based on the 1979 novel of same name by Otto Lara Resende, who co-wrote the screenplay with Guerra and Paulo Cesar Saraceni. It follows the story of young woman named Rita, who moves from Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro to live with her cousin and navigates poverty, lesbianism, prostitution, and love in the big city.</p> <p>The film was met with critical acclaim upon its release, and was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival. It won the Golden Bear Award for Best Film at the 32nd Berlin International Film Festival and for the Best Motion Picture (fiction) at the Academia Brasileira de Cinema Awards.
