Do You Love Me
Glorious! WITH SONG, GAIETY AND ROMANCE...WEAVING A MAGIC SPELL!
Detaylar
From 1946, Do You Love Me? is a pleasant-enough vehicle for popular crooner Dick Haymes, who manages to make even the dullest musical numbers seem fun. Because the film is also at times unpleasantly misogynistic, it's best to consider it as a piece of time-capsule Americana. Katharine Hilliard (Maureen O'Hara) is a mousy, hard-working dean of a music conservatory who is tired of being condescended to by everyone from students to the conservatory's board of directors. When she travels by train to another city to attend a conference, she is unjustly insulted by swing band leader Barry Clayton (Dick Haymes), who calls her a frump. After arriving at her destination, she decides that enough is enough and takes off her glasses, lets her hair down, and puts on a designer gown. Naturally, she's now gorgeous, and everyone thinks so, especially Barry, who now chases after her.
