La cigarra está que arde is a Spanish comedy-drama film written and directed by José Luis Cuerda and starring Carmen Maura and Juan Echanove. The film tells the story of a cigar manufacturer who is forced to sell his factory and his home to the communists. He then moves to Madrid, where he tries to start a new life but is unsuccessful. The film was a critical and commercial success, winning eight Goya Awards, including Best Film and Best Director.
