Tuan Tanah Kedawung

Set in the era of Dutch colonialism, The Master of Kedawung follows the story of a wealthy landowner named Hadji Sastro Alang who is devastated by the death of his first wife. His desolation is inevitably noticed by Zubaedah, his cunning second wife and the ambitious overseer of the estate, who sees it as an opportunity to fully assert herself. Within the diverse ensemble cast, the Makadara family is of particular importance. "The Master of Kedawung" presents a scathing portrayal of colonial and feudal practices, effectively combining a blazing social allegory with a blend of exquisite tragedy and searing satire.
