Underground, la ciudad del Arco Iris
A magical and overwhelming movement that made Seville a leading cultural vanguard.
Detaylar
Underground, the Rainbow City draws upon the historical tension between the United States and Spain to reflect on the counterculture movement of the 1960s and 1970s. During the dictatorship of Franco, the Americans set up military bases in Spain -several of them in Andalusia, near Seville-, bringing young Americans into contact with the incipient vitalist and rebel movement of Underground. The film explores the mutual influences between these two cultures, making visible how the arrival of American soldiers led to the emergence of new ways of life in Spain, such as rock, the consumption of illegal substances, or the demand for civil liberties. Underground, the Rainbow City is a valuable contribution to the filmography of the Spanish Transition, and Isabel Coixet undoubtedly offers one of the best films of her career.
